Smile scares off box office competition for a second weekend

Smile tops the weekend box office again - Smile posterTwo new films debuted at the box office, but they weren't strong enough to knock last week's winner out of the top spot over the weekend.

The horror movie Smile remained on top of the box office, earning an additional $17.6 million for a two-week total of $49.9 million.

The family film Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, about a little boy who finds a singing crocodile living in his home, debuted in second place with $11.5 milion.

The star-studded crime drama Amsterdam starring Christian Bale, John David Washington and Margot Robbie debuted in third place, earning $6.5 million.

The Woman King starring Viola Davis dropped one spot to fourth, taking in an additional $5.3 million for a four-week total of $54.1 million.

Rounding out the top five was the thriller Don’t Worry Darling starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. Dropping three spots from second, it took in an extra $3.5 million, giving it a three-week total of $38.5 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
