Bullet Train zooms to the top of weekend box office

Bullet Train, the David Leitch action film starring Brad Pitt, debuted at the top of the box office. It follows an unlucky assassin named Ladybug (Brad Pitt) who is assigned to retrieve a briefcase. Little does he know there are other assassins on board, and his mission suddenly becomes more complicated. The movie brought in $30.1 million in its first weekend.

This was a fight DC League of Super-Pets couldn't win and as a result, it dropped to second place. The animated movie with Dwayne Johnson as Krypto the Superdog and Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound, took in an additional $11.2 million for a two week total of $45.1 million.

Jordan Peele's horror thriller Nope, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, slipped to third place this weekend, grossing $8.5 million for a three week total of $98 million.

In fourth place was the latest Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, which grossed an additional $7.6 million, bringing its domestic total to $316.1 million.

Closing out the top five was Minions: The Rise of Gru, an origin film to the popular Despicable Me franchise. It made $7.1 million over the weekend for a six week total of $334.6 million. ~Claudia Minardi

    Couldn't understand what they were saying with their foreign accent. Dozed off , woke up? Then left. I couldn't even force a chuckle
