Black Adam leaves competition behind at weekend box office

The last weekend before Halloween proved to be a popular one for horror movies. Read on to see which scary films dominated the lower half of the top five weekend box office hits.

For the second weekend in a row, Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson in the title role left the competition far behind at the box office. The DCEU film earned another $27.7 million for a two-week total of $111.1 million.

Ticket to Paradise starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts also held onto the spot it debuted in last weekend, taking in an additional $10 million for a two-week total of $33.7 million in second place.

The new horror movie Prey for the Devil debuted in third place with an even $7 million, knocking Smile to fourth. Smile, also a horror movie, took in an extra $5.1 million in its fifth weekend for a total of $92.4 million.

Rounding out the top five was another horror film, Halloween Ends. In its third weekend, the film earned $3.8 million for a total of $60.3 million. ~Alexandra Heilbron
